REALMstudios was engaged by Burbank, in collaboration with Genton Architecture to deliver a flexible landscape design surrounding two proposed residential towers in the developing suburb of Box Hill.
The design responds to the existing fabric of Box Hill and the proposed built form that creates a connective and active laneway through the site. The design looks to increase connectivity from the Box Hill transport and shopping hub through to the gardens at the end of Bruce Street.
Simple and legible materiality has been nominated to provide a consistent ground plane throughout the site. Due to the basement car park underneath, tree-like structures have been developed to create shelter with planting material for the retail venues on the ground floor of the East Tower. The planting of trees have been implemented at various levels of the building to give the impression of the landscape working its way up the building whilst providing amenity for residents.
While responding to the existing fabric the design creates a space that encourages integration between the private residents and the public realm.
