The Faith Church Dandenong site is set in a suburban context. It was recognised that car entry to the site, the car park and car parking numbers were critical to the success of the church yet for the most part of any week the car park remained vacant and characterless. The challenge was to maximise the site entry and car parking experience and at the same time to express, articulate and use these spaces in ways other than for just car parking ie youth skate and game areas, functions/marque zones, outdoor play environments, places for people with winter sun and summer shade. In response the landscape concept has been organised to define site-use zones in a legible and graphic way. This is achieved through graphic surface applications and specific landscape interventions where the site becomes a series of use and character zones that can function in a variety of configurations and at the same time deliver specific outcomes for the Church.
