REALMstudios were commissioned by the Town of Victoria Park to assist as lead designers for a community park and series of streetscapes associated with the Lathlain Precinct. Through the evolution of the project we also explored park design concepts for the Former Bowls Club site on an adjacent site.
Zones 2 and 7 at Lathlain Park have been all about the expression of community wants & needs via a responsive and well-designed engagement and iterative design process that REALMstudios has actively participated in. Working closely with TPG and their communications/consultation team we have brought about a design response that the community feel they own and are very happy with.
The design is a response to community values and desires for:
- Ecological functionality
- Community access and visual permeability
- Canopy and shade – areas of respite and nurture
- Equity in provision of amenities (on and beyond the site)
- Integrated urban storm water management – water quality and reuse
- Safety and security
Working adjacent to the future West Coast Eagles training facility has meant negotiation and collaboration with the their consultant team to bring about an integrated and efficient design outcome for the community zones and the whole park.
Schematic Design is now complete and Detailed Design underway with construction anticipated in 2017.
