Open Space Research Study

Engaged to assist the CoPP in the future proofing/planning of CoPP’s public realm and to provide guidelines for future open space requirements in Fisherman’s Bend, REALMstudios were engaged to benchmark the City’s open space provision against the metrics of best practice in other cities of the world. The study resulted in targets being set for public realm metrics, addressing the 2 key drivers of uncertain climate futures and increasing densities, and including metrics around space typologies and use, canopy cover and shade, water consumption, water capture and reuse, accessibility and connectivity.

The key finding from the study is that our streets are vital components of our urban open space system.

Client: City of Port Phillip, Vic
