ReWild Perth Demonstration Garden
ReWild Perth Demonstration Garden is an intellectually ambitious prototype, refocusing the suburban garden as critical ecological infrastructure. The team is commended for leadership in building a collaborative network with Perth NRM, traditional custodians, and local government, positioning landscape architecture as a catalyst for wider community stewardship.
Weaving Whadjuk cultural knowledge, water-sensitive design, and habitat creation into an accessible, welcoming space, the project delivers evidence-based, replicable outcomes now informing Perth NRM's demonstration garden program across WA. The outcome is a beautiful, scalable demonstration that everyday gardens can meaningfully invite nature back in. - Award Citation

The ReWild Perth Demonstration Garden is a catalyst project for behavioural change. It challenges the Perth norm, transforming an otherwise conventional office landscape into a living garden, proposing an alternate aesthetic and ecological connector as a demonstration of urban rewilding. Designed in partnership with Perth NRM, the project showcases biodiversity and improved climate resilience, repositioning human/non-human relationships, connecting communities with local ecosystems.
Through endemic planting, habitat creation, water-sensitive design and long-term ecological monitoring, the ReWild garden provides a practical and replicable model for connected ecological threads. More than a demonstration garden, it points toward a healthier, more resilient and nature-positive city.
