sydney charles quarter

The Sydney Charles Quarter Master Plan focuses on adaptive reuse, maximizing economic value while allowing flexibility for market shifts. By retaining key elements—such as bricks, steel trusses, and signage—the project preserves the area’s historic character as it transforms into a mixed-use precinct.

Spread across two hectares, this revitalisation breathes new life into the former City Motors site. Designed with sustainability in mind, it creates spaces for living, working, and gathering, adaptable to future community and business needs.

The landscape strategy is based on principles of urban greening, material reuse, connectivity, environmental performance, and place activation. These ensure the
precinct’s climate-resilient infrastructure, human-scale design, and network of memorable public spaces.

In collaboration with Cameron Chisholm Nichol Architects, REALMstudios has delivered a flexible, sustainable framework enhancing the ecological and social value of the site. By meeting the City of Vincent’s canopy cover and deep soil guidelines, the plan supports biodiversity and urban fauna while fostering a strong sense of place.
